Who are the biggest EMS/ODM companies in Europe?
16. December 2021

Here is the ranking of the TOP 50 EMS/ODM companies in Europe based on sales in 2020:

Some of the companies on the list may surprise you, such as Mektec, the flexible circuit board manufacturer. You have to know that today 95% of all Mektec circuit boards are assembled directly, i.e. PCBAs are produced. Cordon Electronics does a lot of repairs, Bosch does some EMS work as do some other OEMs (e.g. Technisat, Sony, Vincotech). A good example of why one should wait for published numbers is Wistron, which was in the TOP 10 in Europe in 2019 and has now slipped to position 175, which no one could have predicted or estimated. In addition, the companies’ total sales were not taken into account, but only the EMS share and only the share produced/invoiced in Europe. The 50 largest EMS in Europe represent 65% of the total turnover of 41.3 billion euros (2020) in Europe. The largest 100 accounts for 74% and the largest 300 accounts for almost 87%.

The ranking for 2021 will be interesting. After all, there were many mergers and acquisitions in 2020. There could also be a few surprises, because the companies developed very heterogeneously in 2021. One thing is becoming clear, the consolidation of the European EMS/ODM industry. The analysis of all companies with sales of more than 15 million euros backdated to 2013 shows that these 290 companies were able to increase their share of total sales in Europe by almost 9% by 2020.
